A tilt-top overbed table is a height-adjustable table with a wheeled base and a tabletop that can be tilted to various angles, allowing users to read, write, or eat comfortably while in bed or a chair. It features a C-shaped or "H" base for stability and maneuverability around furniture, making it a versatile medical and home accessory for recovery, relaxation, and even as a makeshift standing desk.
How it Works
Height Adjustment:
A handle or lever allows the user to easily raise or lower the tabletop to their preferred height.
Tilting Mechanism:
The tabletop can be tilted to specific angles, typically around 33 degrees in either direction, for improved usability.
Mobility:
Swivel casters or wheels on the base allow the table to be easily moved and positioned.
Stability:
A sturdy, often chrome-plated steel or powder-coated steel base ensures stability while in use.
Key Features
Adjustable Height:
The ability to adjust the tabletop height provides customized comfort for different users and activities.
Tilted Top:
The tilt function is ideal for holding books, tablets, or other items at an ergonomic angle, reducing strain.
Wheeled Base:
The casters make the table easy to move from one location to another without lifting.
Durable Construction:
Many models feature heavy-gauge steel construction and a durable, low-pressure laminate tabletop to withstand use.
Weight Capacity:
The tables are designed with a sufficient weight capacity to hold items like meals, books, and electronics.
Who is it for?
Hospitalized or Bed-Ridden Individuals:
Ideal for patients recovering at home who need a stable surface for eating, reading, or using electronic devices.
Individuals with Mobility Issues:
The wheeled base and height adjustability make it convenient for those with limited mobility to access the table.
Anyone Needing a Portable Workspace:
It can serve as a portable standing desk, offering a flexible work surface for various tasks.
Replacement Parts Overbed Table Adjustable Tilt Overbed ...To adjust an overbed table, first, position it by rolling it over the bed. Then, adjust the height by pulling the lever and pushing the tabletop down or lifting it up to the desired height before releasing the lever to lock it. To tilt the tabletop, turn the adjustment knob counter-clockwise to loosen it, tilt the surface to the desired angle, and then turn the knob clockwise to tighten it.
Adjusting the Height
Position the table: Roll the table over the bed using the casters.
Locate the height lever: Find the trip or adjustment lever on the column or base of the table.
Lift or lower the table: Pull or squeeze the lever upward, and then either push down on the tabletop (for lowering) or apply slight upward pressure (for raising) to the desired height. Do not press on the end of the table opposite the column.
Lock the height: Release the lever; the column will lock into the set position.
Tilting the Tabletop
Find the tilt knob: Look for a knob or a specific tilt lever near the tabletop.
Loosen the knob: Turn the knob counter-clockwise to loosen it.
Set the angle: Tilt the tabletop to the desired angle.
Tighten the knob: Turn the knob clockwise to secure the tabletop in its new position.
Important Considerations
Safety:
Be careful not to apply pressure to the end of the tabletop opposite the column when adjusting the height.
Stability:
Ensure the table is securely locked at the desired height before placing items on it.
Mobility:
Some tables have a U-shaped base that allows them to be positioned closer to a chair or wheelchair.
